Valparaiso University appears on national television multiple times per season, and also benefits from the Horizon League Network, a league-wide initiative delivered via ESPN3.com that provides for free live video streams of every league game, as well as all of the Crusaders’ non-league home games.
The Crusaders will appear on the ESPN family of networks at least five times during the 2014-2015 campaign, including a home contest against Green Bay either on ESPN2 or ESPNU. Valpo will also play once on the SEC Network and twice on the American Sports Network.
Audio of the game broadcasts, featuring longtime Voice of the Crusaders Todd Ickow, is available via the Valpo Sports Network and is streamed live worldwide as well.
A special game coverage highlight came in February 2011, when Valpo hosted a BracketBuster game against Missouri State. Legendary ESPN broadcaster Dick Vitale called the game as the Crusaders won 80-67 before a packed house at the Athletics-Recreation Center and a national audience on ESPN2.
Every year, the 1998 game-winning 3-pointer by current head coach Bryce Drew is shown during March Madness highlights – an iconic image of the tournament. The 2012-2013 season featured a similar buzzer-beater in postseason play, as Ryan Broekhoff’s game-winning triple to beat Green Bay in the Horizon League Championship semifinal was #2 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays that night.
